Our Story
We set up Twenty84 because we knew that we had the skills and expertise to provide a first class service – but we wanted to work in a unique, dynamic and fluid way, creating our own infrastructure for delivery, and a personal, niche service. Things in the Financial Services sector had changed a lot since we first started recruiting in this space, and we knew that recruiters would need to adapt quickly to keep up. We wanted to use our expert knowledge of Regulatory Compliance recruitment, Anti-Financial Crime and AML recruitment, Risk, Regulatory Change and Finance, and combine it with our interest in the growing FinTech market as well as our core banking and investment management niches.
Watching the FinTech sector take off inspired us to start Twenty84. We wanted the name of our company to reflect the nature of the changing world, as technology continues to advance. For us, the name feels futuristic and inspires us to keep striving for our goals.
From the very beginning, we wanted to combine our service and delivery with supporting a charitable organisation. It was important to us to invest in future generations, who might continue to evolve the world of finance and technology if given the right skills and learning. MyBnk was a direct match with these values and we were in awe of the work they were doing, and continue to do with the support of many organisations, including ours.
Since we started Twenty84 in 2017 we have built up a solid client base and we are proud of our delivery and personal service within the financial and regulatory compliance recruitment sector.
We are a growing company and our goal is to expand and develop our services for our clients and candidates, whilst always keeping our values and ethos in mind.
Quentin Downes
Founder and Managing Director
Quentin has 16 years experience in recruitment, specialising in financial services recruitment for large recruitment firms in London before starting his own company, Twenty84. Quentin has a consistent track record as a top performing consultant, building high-calibre teams and most recently, successfully growing his own business.
Charlotte Downes
Operations
Charlotte's background is in governance and project management before she joined Quentin in starting Twenty84. Charlotte takes care of Twenty84's business functions, policies and procedures.
Gary Long
Recruitment Director
Gary has over 15 years recruitment experience specialising in Finance and Risk within the financial services sector. During this time he has worked with a number of clients of varying size across Retail/Investment Banking, Asset Management, Fin Tech, Payment Services and Insurance.
Most of his experience was gained working with two global recruitment brands in London until recently partnering up with Twenty84.
Gary has a consistent track record as a top performing consultant, as well as building and managing successful teams.
Georgia Newman
Recruitment Consultant
Georgia joined Twenty84 in 2022 and works with Fintechs helping them find AML, Onboarding and KYC professionals, Financial Crime Investigators, and Regulatory Compliance professionals such as Heads of Compliance and Compliance Managers.
William Robarts
Recruitment Consultant
William joined Twenty84 in 2023 and focusses on both Permanent and Interim roles across Financial Services in all of our core areas such as Compliance, Financial Crime and Risk.
